When you’re ordering a promotional product that will have your logo on it, you want that logo to look its best – in comes the importance of vector artwork. Never heard of vector artwork? You’ve likely seen it and just don’t realize. When you see a logo that’s crisp, not blurry, it’s vector. Sometimes you’ll hear us ask for a .EPS or .AI file. Those are the two preferred vector formats for receiving your artwork in their original format.
Without going in to a ton of detail, vector artwork means that the shapes used are based on mathematical expressions that represent images. We’ll send you over to Wikipedia for more info and examples on vector graphics if you’re interested. Think about it this way. When you send us a .JPG image, it’s like taking a picture of your logo. We need the original file so that when we make the logo larger, it’s still really clear and looks good on the shirt, the pen, any item your logo will be printed on. Without losing quality, vector images can be magnified infinitely, whereas .JPGs can’t.
Don’t think you have a .EPS or .AI file of your logo? If you don’t have a program that opens these files types, you may not have stored your original logo files on your computer. Usually your web or graphic designer, or anyone that has helped with your graphics will have these formats. You can send us the file you can’t open along with the .JPG file that you know is the logo you wanted printed on your promotional products or custom apparel, and we can double check your vector artwork against that.
If you just cannot get the files, we’re able to recreate them during production, but that will come at an added cost to you. And we’re all about saving you time and money, especially for something that you likely have already paid for at some point during the creation of your brand.
